DA-CAR holds Regulatory Consultative Forum in Mountain Province

The Department of Agriculture (DA) – CAR visits Mountain Province, in coordination with their Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) for a Regulatory Consultative/Forum Workshop on September 14, 2017 at Ridgebrooke Hotel, Bontoc, Mountain Province. Municipal livestock coordinators, Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), farmers, and feed dealers were invited to sit down in the activity.

Dr. Rodelio Bagawi, Provincial Veterinarian of Mountain Province, welcomed the participants and applauded the department for including their province in the forum caravan. “This regulatory is important so that we’ll know how to fit in the standards,” said Dr. Bagawi.

All topics were discussed by representatives from the DA-CAR Regulatory Division.

Dr. Cecilia Capuyan began the forum with an update on the status of the Avian Influenza in the country. She was then followed by Vilma Mosqueda to present the requirements of the Republic Act 3720 (foods, drugs, and devices), Republic Act 1556 (livestock and poultry feeds), and Administrative 08 (Livestock Handlers and Transport Carrier).

Another part of the agenda was the significance of food safety especially in the incoming ASEAN integration. Mylene Cadalig took on the Republic Act 10611 (Food Safety Act), Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), and Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP). “These certifications and standards are put up for the protection and promotion of the health pf the people,” Cadalig reiterated.

Afterwards, details about the Republic Act 8485 was given by Marietta Blanco.
