Organic Regional Focal Persons convened in CAR to harmonize 15th NOAC
Organic agriculture regional focal persons from all regions of the country convened in Baguio City on February 8, 2018 for a post-evaluation of the 14th National Organic Agriculture Congress (NOAC).
A planning workshop for the implementation of the 15th NOAC was also conducted as part of the event.
The occasion aims to assess the 14th NOAC that was held in Cagayan de Oro last October 2017, particularly to identify windows to improve the conduct of the 15th NOAC this year (2018).
NOAC is an event conducted yearly by the National Organic Agriculture Program (NOAP) which gathers major industry players including farmer producers/practitioners, operators of organic establishments, researchers, educators, policy makers and other industry enthusiasts.
It is an event that opens opportunities for key players to learn more about organic farming and share related experiences, as well as drum up support to the sector in advancing its social, environmental, and economic contributions to nation building.
Regional Technical Director for Operations, Engr. Danilo P. Daguio emphasized the importance of planning in achieving the goals of the program stating that “whenever you plan, you plan to succeed.”
Also, he assured the support of the region in the promotion of organic agriculture in the country in making every Filipino live a healthy life.
Director Christopher V. Morales, National Coordinator of the Organic Agriculture Program, challenged the focal persons to think of a different way on how to implement the congress in a special way. “We encourage everyone to think out of the box and share to us any idea that can be adopted in the changing needs of the event,” Morales said.
Participants agreed to have a thematic focus this year which will be their guide in achieving the goals and objectives of the program.
Present during the activity were representatives from the implementing agencies such as Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech), Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), Bureau of Plant in Industry (BPI), Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (AMAS), Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR), and DA-CAR-OAP staff headed by Ms. Lilibeth C.
